Arctic Fox (Peseć): The Survivor of the Frozen North
The Arctic fox, or peseć, is a master of survival in one of the harshest environments on Earth. Found in the Arctic tundra, these small, adaptable foxes are equipped with thick fur, a bushy tail, and fur-covered paws to endure extreme cold. Their white winter coats provide excellent camouflage in the snow, which shifts to brown or gray in the summer to blend with the thawed landscape.
Arctic foxes are opportunistic feeders, hunting lemmings, birds, and fish, while scavenging leftover kills from larger predators like polar bears. However, climate change and competition with red foxes are threatening their populations. Efforts to protect their Arctic habitats are crucial to ensuring their continued survival.
